One of the main challenges with the keys is that all of the doors in the house were replaced at aroud the same time, so all of the keys look remarkably similar. There was a key box which lived on a shelf in the kitchen which contained all of the spare keys but it was hard to know what keys were for what. We planned to get a keysafe so needed a set of keys to go in there. I initially went to Timpson’s to get a new set cut, but at £9 a key, I decided to check what we had first. Once sorted I labelled all of the keys to save confusion. I bought these great little plastic fobs from Hobbycraft: https://www.hobbycraft.co.uk/blank-photo-keyrings-12-pack/5626391000.html
I measured the label size and set up a template on Word so that I could print them all, but they came with bits of paper so you could hand write them. On the front I wrote what the key was for. On the back I wrote where the key should be kept. I managed to find an entire spare set of keys for the key safe and a number of front door keys in case the one in dad’s wallet gets mislaid.
